Asynchronous will increase because of:
- changes in working pattern; global working, flexibility in time and place of work (allows work schedules to be less dependent on others)
- improving communication infrastructure
- perceived modernity
- functionality, e.g., store and forward is polite, no missed calls, easy to use and speed
- affordance; saves time, enables considered responses, removes socialising
- enhanced contactability; provides a way of managing time and teams
